Iran is standing by Egypt, Ahmadinejad tells Morsi

TEHRAN,July 7(MNA) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the Iranian nation is standing by the Egyptian people and wants to see them making progress. Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi held on Thursday, during which the Iranian president congratulated his counterpart on his election and invited him to attend the XVI Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement that is scheduled to be held in Tehran from August 26 to 31. “Your participation as the current president of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Tehran summit will be effective in advancing the negotiations and the ratifications,” Ahmadinejad stated. The Non-Aligned Movement has great potential to help promote peace in the world, he said, adding, “Egypt’s role in this movement is undeniable, and constructive cooperation between Iran and Egypt in this movement can produce many positive results.” He also noted that the Islamic Republic is ready to share its experience in various areas with Egypt to help it make progress. Iran sees no limitation to the expansion of ties with the Arab country and welcomes increased cooperation with the Egyptian people and government, Ahmadinejad stated. Morsi, said, “Iran and Egypt will follow the path toward the realization of all aspirations and hopes of the two nations.” Elsewhere in his remarks, the Egyptian president expressed hope that he will be able to hold a meeting with Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of the NAM summit. Morsi also emphasized the importance of the Non-Aligned Movement, expressing hope that its purposes would be accomplished.
