Iran, Turkey’s 3rd biggest trading partner: report
TEHRAN,Nov.1(MNA) – Iran was the third major trading partner of Turkey, next to Germany and Russia, in the first 8 months of 2012 with $17.52 in bilateral transactions, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Turkey imported $8.94 billion worth of goods from Iran and exported $8.58 worth of goods during the 8-month period.
On October 5, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi announced that the speed of trade exchanges between Iran and Turkey has accelerated and will soon reach the targeted goal of 30 billion dollars per year.
Iran and Turkey have sharply increased the level of their trade ties over the past years. In 2000, the level of bilateral trade stood at only around $1 billion, but in 2010, it exceeded $10 billion. The figure hit $15 billion last year.
