Iran to unveil new destroyer, drones soon

TEHRAN,Feb.19(MNA)– Iran will unveil new domestically manufactured vessels and drones in the near future, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Monday. “A destroyer of the Moj class, named the Jamaran 2, and a new type of floating vessel will be unveiled in the near future,” Vahidi told reporters. Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that various types of homemade combat and reconnaissance drones would become operational in the near future. Iran’s first domestically manufactured destroyer, the Jamaran, was launched in February 2010. The warship can carry helicopters and is equipped with torpedoes and electronic radar. It is 94 meters long and weighs over 1,500 tons. The destroyer is capable of engaging in surface, air, and undersea warfare.
