Iran Urges Unity, Vigilance Among Muslim Ummah
Tehran, Oct 18, IRNA - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, here on Wednesday, urged Muslim Ummah to be united and vigilant towards US and Zionist regime divisive plots.
He made the remark in a meeting with a number of Sunni scholars and leaders of Lebanese Islamic Amal Front.
'Enemies of regional resistance movement against the occupying force of the Zionist regime are not able to confront the ongoing powerful Islamic Awakening in the region.'
The high-ranking official underlined that the US and Zionist regimes are not able to deviate the Islamic Awakening and weaken the resistance movement but Muslim Ummah should be vigilant toward the enemy divisive plots.
'Muslim Ummah needs to be united against its real enemy which is the occupying force of Zionist regime.'
Representatives of Lebanese Amal Islamic Front said on their behalf that Iran is an important player in regional resistance toward the Zionist regime and stressed the impotence of unity among various factions of Islam.
'Enemies paradoxical approach toward the regional issues is doomed to failure and thanks to brotherly ties among Muslims, their divisive plots would be defeated.
Since early 2011, a tide of revolutions and popular uprising has spread across the Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
The developments have so far led to the downfall of three US-backed authoritarian regimes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya.
Many observers contend that the Islamic Awakening movement has been inspired by Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Political analysts believe that Zionists are fearful of the ongoing Islamic Awakening in the region since the movement has toppled Israel's allies, such as Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak, and empowered Islamists who follow Iran's path in their foreign policies.
The region has witnessed a growing wave of popular protests resulted from the people's growing awareness and vigilance.
Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.
Libya was the third country touched by the Islamic Awakening. Libyans also embraced victory after months of bloody campaign against the country's dictator, Muammar al-Qaddafi.
Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.
In Yemen, although the people have toppled the dictator and elected a president, the revolution still continues as allies and family members of the former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, still hold key posts in the country and have not been brought to justice./end
