Iran, Vietnam should use their potential to enhance ties: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN,Nov.11(MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Tehran and Hanoi have great potential, which should be utilized to cement bilateral ties in all spheres. Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on Friday. During the meeting, the two sides held talks on various issues, including the ways to enhance bilateral relation and the latest developments in the world. Ahmadinejad described the relationship between the two countries as deep and fraternal and said that the Iranian people have always felt respect for the Vietnamese nation. He said that the Islamic Republic believes that Vietnam’s development is its own because the two countries are in “the same front”. He added that the enhancement of Tehran-Hanoi ties will be definitely to the benefit of “the two nations and global peace and security.” Ahmadinejad also said fortunately political ties between the two countries are very close. At the meeting, Truong Tan Sang called for the expansion of bilateral ties and said that Ahmadinejad’s trip to Vietnam provides a great opportunity to deepen relations in all spheres. He emphasized the necessity to promote cooperation in all areas, particularly in the area of economic ties. Commenting on the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was held in Tehran in late August, the Vietnamese president said given the capacities and capabilities of the Islamic Republic, NAM can achieve great successes during the presidency of Iran. During a separate meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the same day, Ahmadinejad emphasized the need to promote relations in all areas. Ahmadinejad also said that Islamic Republic will always side with the Vietnamese nation.
