Iran welcomes peace deal between Philippine govt. and MILF

TEHRAN,Oct.18(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Wednesday welcomed the fact that the Philippine government has signed a framework peace plan with the country’s largest Muslim rebel group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and described it as “significant”. The deal, which was signed on Monday, follows lengthy negotiations aimed at ending a 40-year conflict that has cost an estimated 120,000 lives.
