Iran will not succumb to pressure:Supreme Leader

TEHRAN,Jan.17(MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that Iran will not give in to the pressure being exerted by the hegemonistic powers. The Leader made the remarks during a meeting with a number of intelligence officials and personnel of the armed forces in Tehran on Wednesday. “The hegemonistic bloc is making every effort to compel the Iranian nation to give in through sanctions and pressure, but the people bear hardships because they have become aware of the enemy’s plot and tactic and its strategic goal and act on their understanding and good judgment,” he said. Ayatollah Khamenei also said that despite all the enemy’s pressure and plots, the Islamic Republic system has made great scientific progress over the past 34 years and become a powerful and influential country in the international arena. Pointing to the post-election unrest in 2009, the Leader said that when the enemy had formed a false impression that its plot against the Islamic Republic was close to producing results, the Iranian people entered the scene with full strength and slapped international opponents and their internal mercenaries on the face.
