Iranian and Swedish foreign ministers hold talks on Syria

TEHRAN, July 31 (MNA) – During a phone conversation late on Monday, the Iranian and Swedish foreign ministers expressed concern over the situation in Syria and insisted on the need to stop the bloody conflict in the country. Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt pointed to the deteriorating situation in Syria and said all countries should put effort into stopping the conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi elaborated on Tehran’s position toward developments in Syria and expressed hope that security and peace would prevail in the country. Salehi added that it is necessary that Syrian allies along with supporters of peace and stability in the region pave the way for talks between the government and opposition to find a solution out of the crisis.
