Iranian Majlis to investigate blogger’s death

TEHRAN,Nov.12(MNA) - A special committee has been established in the Majlis to investigate the death of Sattar Beheshti, an Iranian blogger who recently died in custody, Iranian Deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard announced on Sunday. Speaking to the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency, Aboutorabi-Fard said, “The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has discussed the issue and has established a committee in this regard.” He also called on Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who is the chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, to report the findings to the Majlis as soon as possible. According to the report, the committee was established after MP Ahmad Tavakkoli expressed his criticism of the fact that the judicial apparatus and the Foreign Ministry have maintained silence on the issue. In a speech during an open session of the Majlis on Sunday, Tavakkoli said that the judicial apparatus and the Foreign Ministry should provide explanations about the incident.
