Iranian Navy closely monitoring movements of foreign forces: Iranian admiral

TEHRAN,Nov.8(MNA) – Iranian commander of the Navy said that Iranian naval forces are closely monitoring the movements of foreign forces in the southern waters of the country.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, “We are monitoring all movements of regional and extra-regional forces in the area of responsibility of the Navy. It means that there is no moment that we do not know the location of a certain warship of a certain country.”
“We are monitoring them employing various methods and using the equipment we possess, including vessels, submarines, and manned and unmanned aircraft,” he said, adding, “Along these lines, we have new projects underway because the systems that our forces possess are not sufficient.”
On the navy’s plan to expand its presence on the open seas, Sayyari said that according to international regulations, Iranian naval forces are allowed to be present in international waters, so the Navy plans to deploy vessels in the Atlantic Ocean.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Navy commander said that a new domestically manufactured destroyer, named the Velayat, will be launched in the near future.
