Iranian official meets Armenian FM in Yerevan

TEHRAN,Dec.27(MNA) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan in Yerevan, the Foreign Ministry said in a report on Wednesday. The meeting took place at the invitation of the Armenian minister for a political-consultative dialogue. They discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional and international developments. The two officials also voiced concern over the Syrian crisis and emphasized that the conflict should be settled peacefully. In addition, Araqchi thanked Armenia for its ‘no vote’ on the latest anti-Iran resolution in the UN General Assembly and submitted a written message of Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi to the Armenian counterpart in this regard. The resolution, which was drafted by Canada and co-sponsored by other Western countries, passed on December 20 in an 86-32 vote with 65 abstentions. Araqchi also held talks with Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsissyan on ways to promote bilateral economic relationship. The two sides underlined the necessity of utilizing the potentials of the two countries to expand further economic ties and discussed the ways to enhance relations in energy sector and helping remove the obstacles in the way of promotion of economic relations.
