Iranian students hold demo to condemn massacre of Muslims in Myanmar

TEHRAN,July 21(MNA) – A number of students from universities across Tehran held a demonstration outside the United Nations office in the Iranian capital on Friday condemning the massacre of Muslims in Myanmar. The demonstrators criticized international human rights organizations and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights for remaining silent about the killing of Muslims in Myanmar. At the end of the event, the students issued a statement, part of which read, “Muslims and non-Muslims have a responsibility to pressure international organizations into taking action to prevent the continuation of the killing of Muslims in Myanmar so that the Burmese government will not be able to repeat the atrocities committed in Palestine.” The statement added that certain “media outlets have always been seeking to give the impression that Muslims are terrorists while the worst atrocities are being committed against oppressed Muslims across the world, and the West’s silence not only gives the lie to (claims) of the United States and (certain) Western governments but also lends credence to their support for organized terrorism in the world.”
