Iran's Deputy FM Arrives In Bolivia

La Paz, Dec 6, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Ali-Asghar Khaji arrived here in Bolivian capital La Paz for an official visit of the country. Khaji is scheduled to confer latest international and regional developments with his Bolivian counterpart David Choquehuanca and some other Bolivian officials. Iran has in recent years expanded friendly ties with Latin America, especially in economic, trade and industrial fields. Since taking office in 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Cuba. The strong and rapidly growing ties between Iran and Latin America have raised eyebrows in the US and its western allies since Tehran and Latin nations have forged an alliance against the imperialist and colonialist powers and are striving hard to reinvigorate their relations with the other independent countries which pursue a line of policy independent from the US. Bolivia has publicly supported Iran’s nuclear power program with statements from various government officials. Iran and Bolivia recently began pursuing more extensive trade and diplomatic relations, signing a trade and energy agreement in September 2007./end
