Iran's FM Meets Myanmar's Counterpart

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi met with his Myanmar's counterpart, Wunna Maung Lwin, on the sidelines of Non-Aligned Movement's meeting in Tehran on Sunday. The two sides discussed bilateral ties and the recent tragic incidents of massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Salehi said that Iran is ready to send humanitarian aid to Myanmar and also using its influence for reducing the ethnic conflicts in that country. 'The international community is badly concerned about the recent brutalities against the Burmese Muslims,' he added. Myanmar's Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin for his part welcomed Iran's offer of support for his country and presented a report on the recent incidents in Myanmar. He assured Salehi that his country respects the rights of followers of all religions and they would fight discrimination against Muslims./end
