Iran`s principlist factions choose nominees for post of Majlis speaker

TEHRAN, May 27 (MNA) - The principlist faction of the Followers of Velayat held a meeting on Saturday and elected Ali Larijani, the outgoing Majlis speaker, as their nominee for the post of speaker in the next parliament, MP Kazem Jalali announced. Of the 151 MPs present for the meeting, 148 lawmakers voted in favor of the nomination of Larijani, Jalali said on Saturday. In addition, a number of other principlist MPs held a meeting on Saturday in which they selected Chairman of the Majlis Cultural Committee Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, who served as Majlis speaker from 2004-2008, as their nominee. The MPs will cast their ballots during a Majlis session on Monday to elect the parliament speaker for a one-year term.
