Iran`s Rafsanjani emphasizes the need for unity

TEHRAN,May 25(MNA) – Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who was barred by the Guardian Council from running for president, has said that resolving the problems facing the country necessitates maintaining unity. “Given the country’s situation, the next administration will receive a legacy of mismanagement in recent years, unfair sanctions, and many problems in all areas, especially in economic and political (areas),” the former president said at a meeting with the staff of his election campaign office in Tehran on Thursday. Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said that he had registered for the election only to serve the people, noting that after receiving a flood of letters asking him to stand as a candidate, he “signed up after informing the Leader.”
