Israel’s fate in hands of regional nations: Iran’s security official

TEHRAN, June 11 (MNA) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said that the Islamic Awakening proved the fact that the fate of the Zionist regime is in the hands of regional nations. Jalili made the remarks during a meeting with Ahmad Jibril, the secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in Tehran on Sunday. He said that the Islamic Awakening has opened up better opportunities for the Muslim world to defy the United States and the Zionist regime. Commenting on the latest developments in the region, he said after the emergence of popular uprisings in the region which led to the collapse of some dictatorial regimes, particularly the despotic government of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, the Zionist regime has been put in its weakest position. “The enemies of the axis of resistance make every effort to minimize the Zionist regime’s strategic weakness, but they will definitely get nowhere,” Jalili stated. During the meeting, Jibril said that the pressure put on Iran by major powers signifies the fact that regional developments and the spread of the Islamic Awakening have strengthened the Islamic Republic’s ability to challenge the U.S. and Israel. Commenting on Iran’s material and spiritual assistance to the Palestinian resistance movement, Jibril said that Iran is “the Palestinian nation’s strategic hope.”
