Israeli attack on Iran would trigger world war III: Iranian diplomat

TEHRAN,April 13(MNA) – The Iranian Ambassador to France, Ali Ahani said that in case Israel attacks Iran, there would be catastrophic consequences that can lead to third world war. In an interview with Geo-economy published on Thursday, Ahani said, “Israel is constantly talking about Iranian threat, and is making efforts to convince the United States and Europe to harden their policy towards Iran and our nuclear program.” He added that it would be a sheer madness by Israel to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, because Iran would not stay inactive. Commenting on Iran’s nuclear activities, Ahani said that the International Atomic Energy Agency is monitoring these activities round the clock. He added the agency has so far conducted 7,500 man-days investigation of Iran’s nuclear sites, an intensive surveillance that he said no other NPT signatory allows. The veteran diplomat emphasized that Iran has categorically denied pursuing any military purposes in its nuclear drive. Elsewhere in his remarks, he talked about certain disagreements between the Persian Gulf littoral states, expressing hope that the security and stability of the region would be guaranteed through consultation and cooperation between these countries. Ahani also referred to the fatwa (religious decree) of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who has declared the production, stockpiling, and use of nuclear weapons as haram (prohibited in Islam). The Supreme leader said in February 2013 that the use of nuclear weapons is a crime against humanity.
