It would be unjust to say Turkey interferes in Iraq's internal matters, says Deputy Akdogan

ANKARA (A.A) - January 17, 2012 - Chairman of the Turkish Parliamentary Turkey-Iraq Friendship Group and a Justice and Development (AK) Party Deputy from Ankara, Yalcin Akdogan, said Tuesday that Turkey made some friendly advices for the welfare of the Iraqi people after U.S. pull out from Iraq.
Speaking to the AA, Akdogan said that "it would be unjust to say that Turkey interfered in Iraq's internal matters with its advices".
Iraq's territorial integrity, political union and communal peace are issues that Turkey is highly sensitive on, Akdogan said.
What we expect from Iraq are not threats but words that would contribute to the friendship between our two countries, Akdogan noted.
Those who act irresponsibly would lose always, Akdogan underlined.
Remembering Iraq with chaos and crisis is a case that no regional country desires to see. Everyone in Iraq must refrain from ethnic and sectarian polarization and be sensitive on the issue, Akdogan also said.
Akdogan's comments on Tuesday came after Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki criticized Turkey recently for "interfering in Iraq's internal matters".
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) summoned the Iraqi Ambassador in Ankara, Abdulemir Kamil Abi-Tabik, to the ministry on Monday while Turkey's Ambassador in Baghdad, Yunus Demirer, was summoned to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry over Turkey's recent statements on Iraq.
Yalcin Akdogan is also a senior advisor for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
