Jalili: Syrian Crisis Will Not Be Settled By Weapons, Bloodshed

Beirut, Aug 7, IRNA – Iran persistently believes that democracy is the way out of the Syrian crisis not weapons and bloodshed, said the visiting Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili in a meeting here with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour Monday evening. "Those who think they can buy more security for themselves by sending weapons and terrorists to Syria are making a strategic mistake," Jalili stressed, criticizing the move by certain states to create instability in Syria. He added, "Friends of Syria can help the Syrian nation through full cessation of violence, organizing national dialogue, holding general elections and sending humanitarian aid." Jalili, arrived here Monday morning on an official visit to discuss major bilateral, regional and international developments with senior Lebanese officials. He has, so far, held separate talks with President Michel Suleiman, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati./end
