Jalili To Visit Beirut This Week

Beirut, Aug 5, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili is to pay an official state visit to Beirut on Monday. Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi told IRNA reporter in Beirut that Jalili will confer with Lebanese high-ranking officials including President Michel Suleiman, prime minister Najib Mikati, parliament speaker Nabih Berri and foreign minister Adnan Mansour on issues of mutual interests along with regional and international developments. "Jalili will attend an Iftar banquet in Zeitoon garden at Iran's Embassy in Beirut where over 300 outstanding media persons from Lebanon, Palestine and Iran are to attend." The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states are to convene in Gabon on 20th of April to endorse ratification on a bill to give a full media coverage and support by Islamic countries for Qods Day and Palestine. The International Qods Day founded by the late Imam Khomeini, in 1979 to voice solidarity with the Palestinians. International Qods Day is marked by world Muslims on the last Friday of Ramadan to condemn occupation of Palestinian territories./end
