JCPOA to promote Iran-Serbia relations

TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic ahead of her visit to Tehran said the nuclear accord will provide better grounds for bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of economy. Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic made the remarks ahead of her visit to Tehran on Monday. The two-day visit will come at the official invitation of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani. “The joint trade commission meeting that will be held in Tehran in the near future is of utmost importance. We are expecting that the meeting will review and evaluate all existing avenues for increasing economic cooperation in the fields of agriculture, trade, pharmaceuticals and tourism,” she said, while asserting that Iran-Serbia economic cooperation is mainly through trade and exchange of goods. She highlighted the need for direct trade contacts in order to encourage Iranian and Serbian businessmen and trade officials, adding ‘mutual trust’ is highly significant for economic cooperation and that bilateral visits are the best way to build trust. Gojkovic deemed the two countries’ relations ‘friendly’, saying Serbia will make every effort to expand bilateral cooperation with Iran in all areas related to politics, economy and culture. She also noted that parliamentary cooperation between the two countries will play a significant role in bilateral relations, adding that the strengthening of such ties will help develop cooperation in all other areas. Gojkovic is scheduled to hold meetings with Larijani as well as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh. A meeting with the head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati is also on Gojkovic’s agenda during her two-day trip to Tehran.
