Judicial case against "Abhisit" dropped
BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) - A case against former Thai Democrat prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, now the country's opposition leader, and another Democrat MP for Phitsanulok Province, Dr. Warong Dejkitvikrom, filed by the ruling Pheu Thai Party for their alleged constitutional violation in handing out relief supplies during a massive flooding late last year, has been dropped.
Bangkok's Constitutional Court ruled to dismiss the case on Friday, reasoning that the allegation was groundless and the two Democrats' handing out of the relief packs was apparently aimed to assist flood victims.
The ruling Pheu Thai Party earlier filed the case against Abhisit and Dr. Warong, seeking the Constitutional Court's ruling whether the two opposition politicians should be stripped of their parliamentary status for their alleged interference with operations of state officials by distributing flood relief supplies to flood victims in Phitsanulok in the Lower Thai North.
