Kremlin agrees on appointment of John Tefft as US ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW, July 9 (Itar-Tass) - The Kremlin has agreed on the appointment of John Tefft as the U.S. ambassador to Russia.
“We've agreed,” Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on Wednesday.
However, Ushakov declined to comment on “the behaviour of Tefft when he worked in Georgia and Ukraine”.
“He is a professional diplomat. He knows the country and speaks the Russian language,” Ushakov said.
Tefft worked in Ukraine from November 2009 to August 2013. In 2000-2013 he was U.S. ambassador to Lithuania. In 2005-2009 Tefft worked in Georgia.
In 1996-1999 Tefft took the position of U.S. deputy ambassador in Moscow.
In February 2014 former U.S. ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said he would resign for family reasons. He left Moscow on February 26.
