Lavrov urges OSCE to use urgently all possibilities to release Russian TV journalists in Ukraine

MOSCOW, May 19 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to use urgently all possibilities of this organisation to release Russian journalists from LifeNews TV channel in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
Over the detention of Russia’s LifeNews TV journalists by Ukrainian law enforcers in the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk in the evening on May 18 the Russian foreign minister got in touch with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Swiss President Didier Burkhalter and urged him to use urgently all possibilities of this organisation to release immediately detained Russians, the diplomatic agency said. “The OSCE chairperson-in-office pledged that he would deal with this problem immediately,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
“Demarches to this effect were taken to the leadership of the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna [Austria’s capital] and the OSCE Mission head office in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev,” the ministry said.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry will continue to seek for soonest settlement of the situation over Russian TV journalists,” the Russian diplomatic agency pledged.
