Minister D.Oyunkhorol attends World Water Forum

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol is taking part in the Eight World Water Forum being held in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea on April 12-17. Last Sunday she attended its Ministerial Conference. The participants--delegates from 170 countries-- issued a Convention on protecting water, the "blue gold", and appropriate usage of water resources. The same day, at a meeting with the director-general of the Global Green Growth Institution (GGGI) Mr Yvo De Boer, the Minister thanked him for collaborating with Mongolia in introducing to Mongolia and promoting green development. She asked the Institute to support Mongolia in creating a model green-garden and its cooperation in the disseminating at local and national levels the knowledge about green development, industry, economy and green market. The GGGI developed a financial claim for 2015-2016, for its Mongolia-targeted programs with value of 900 thousand US dollars to be dedicated to establishing a green development database, water and energy management, land management, and urban development projects. The Institute will cooperate with the Ministry of Environment, Green Development and Tourism in preparing an action plan on implementing the country’s green policies, particularly, in planning the frameworks for energy, construction and water spheres, in developing detailed designs of an eco-friendly, energy- and water-saving green garden. Efforts will be made for enhancing the management of water resources through creating a water resource database. Mr Yve De Boer expressed a willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in green growth and conveyed the invitation by the Chair of the Assembly for the President Ts.Elbegdorj for the Summit of the GGGI to be held in Bali this July. D.Oyunkhorol was accompanied by G.Monkh-Erdem, the head of the Department for Land Management and General Water Policy Adjustment, and B.Eroolt, the head of the Foreign Relations Division.
