Minister Sahin receives Huque, UNFPA representative to Turkey
ANKARA (A.A) - August 8, 2011 - Turkey's Family & Social Policies minister said on Monday that Turkey and the United Nations would carry out joint works to improve education, employment and life quality of women in Turkey.
Family & Social Policies Minister Fatma Sahin received Zahidul Huque, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative in Turkey.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Sahin said Huque paid a visit of courtesy.
Sahin said an important campaign was launched with the UN following circular of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that "violence against women is a social problem".
Sahin thanked to UNFPA and all other representatives assigned in Turkey over their contributions to the campaign, "our cooperation will continue. We will continue to work together with the UN in social policies which will boost education of girls."
Huque said UNFPA has been carrying out works with Turkey particularly on women rights issue. He said UN's joint works would continue with Family & Social Policies Ministry.
