Minister works at “11 11” center
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Ts.Oyungerel Wednesday worked in the "11 11" center at the cabinet for reforms, and received 3,000 suggestions, complaints and appeals.
Talking about her sphere, she said that last year, a draft new wording of the law on cultural heritage was submitted to parliament, and that some two billion togrog was invested in local museums for the first time, and new buildings have been put into use for seven cultural centers in localities, and musical dramatic theatres have been opened in Dornod and Gobi-Altai.
The Minister went on that the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding registered the Mongolian calligraphy, whereas the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity registered the craftsmanship of Mongolian traditional ger (yurt).
Regarding the sports, Ms Oyungerel said Mongolia captured 77 gold, 118 silver and 192 bronze medals in World and continental championships and other international competitions last year. Incentives of 908 million 205 thousand togrog have been given to winner athletes and coaches.
The tourism forum of 2013 was held to run a public discussion over a draft new wording of the law on tourism, the Minister said. She also added that a tourism calendar for 2014 has been published and the "National Geographic Traveler" magazine has been created.
