Moscow ready to promote more intra-Syrian consultations - moderators’ spokesman

MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. Moscow is prepared to promote a second round of intra-Syrian consultations, but no dates have been set yet, a spokesman for the group of moderators of contacts between the Syrian government and the opposition, Veniamin Popov, has said in reply to a question from TASS. "The Foreign Ministry is prepared to arrange for such a meeting, and only Russia can provide such a floor," said Popov, the director of the Partnership of Civilizations Centre under the international relations university MGIMO. "I believe that after some time the meeting will take place. When exactly I am not able to say at the moment. It is most important the parties concerned are ready to go ahead with consultations." The first intra-Syrian meeting on January 26-29 gathered practically all groups of the Syrian opposition in Moscow, except for the Istanbul-based National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces. Taking part in the Moscow meeting were delegates from the National Coordinating Committee, Kurdish Democratic Union party, and Popular Front for Change and Liberation.
