MP: Western States Must Openly Reveal Their Plans In Upcoming Almaty Talks

Tehran, April 3, IRNA – A senior Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Hossein Asafari on Sunday referred to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khameneiˈs remarks on next round of talks between Iran and G5+1 in his speech in the holy city of Mashhad on the first day of the Iranian New year, saying now itˈs the turn of six major powers to make clear their plans.
Speaking to IRNA, he said that Iran is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and western powers should recognize Iranˈs nuclear rights including right to enrich uranium.
Asafari who is a member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranˈs Majlis (parliament) pointed to Ayatollah Khameneiˈs Fatwa (Islamic decree) forbidding the test, production and stockpiling of nuclear weapons and said ˈWe have repeatedly announced that we are not after producing nuclear weapons and condemn any kind of using such weapons.ˈ
If G5+1 insists on its demands from Iran to give up its nuclear rights ˈWe may revise our views and postpone negotiations.ˈ
The next round of talks between Iran and G5+1 is to be held for the second time in Almaty, Kazakhstan on April 5. The previous round of talks was held in the same city from Feb 26-27. A technical round of negotiation was also held between experts of the two sides in Istanbul on March 18./end
