MPP faction head pays tribute to spouse of J.Batmonkh

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A head of the faction of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) S.Byambatsogt visited Saturday Ms A.Dariimaa, 82, a spouse of late J.Batmonkh. The latter used to be a General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Mongolian People's Party. The faction head shared views with Ms Dariimaa on a present situation of the country and spoke about the MPP works. Born 1926 in Uvs aimag, Batmonkh Jamba was a political leader and economics professor, and is considered as a person who significantly contributed to a transition to the democratic revolution of Mongolia. He became a member of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (now MPP) in 1948. In 1951, he began his career as a professor at the Pedagogical University. In 1973, after working as a professor and director at the university for over twenty years, he was promoted to Minister of Sciences. In the spring of 1974, he was promoted to Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the MPRP. In June 1974 he became Chairman of the Council of Ministers, an office analogous to Prime Minister, and, in 1984--the Head of State when the party's long-time leader, Tsedenbal Yumjaa, was ousted in a party session.
