NAM summit participants to discuss proposal calling for opposition to foreign interference in Syria

TEHRAN,Aug.27(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Sunday that a proposal which calls for opposition to foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs will be discussed by delegates from the Non-Aligned Movement member states. Mehmanparast stated that the proposal would be discussed on the sidelines of the NAM expert meetings, which opened on Sunday and close today. “Members of the Non-Aligned Movement are opposed to any foreign interference, extremism, and the activities of terrorist groups in the world and Syria. On the sidelines of the summit and within the framework of issues regarding regional matters, the Syrian issue will be raised and a plan for opposition to foreign interference in this country will be discussed in consultation and cooperation with members of the Non-Aligned Movement,” he added. Mehmanparast also stated, “The Non-Aligned countries want that the people’s views be heard in Syria, reforms be pursued, and a comprehensive plan for resolving the country’s problems be presented.”
