Nation Vigilant Towards West Anti-Iranian Plots: Official

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA – Nation is vigilant towards the West anti-Iranian plots, Secretary General of the Judiciary's High Council for Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani said here Thursday night. He made the remarks in an interview with Iran's state TV, Channel 2. "Islamic Republic with its 30 years of experience in governance could change Iran from a dependent, helpless state to a modern, self-reliant one with a progressed civilian society." Larijani called Iranian nation's progresses in all fields including the field of science as main reason of the West hostility toward Tehran. He pointed to the West hostile actions against Iran's peaceful nuclear activities and added that Iran has prepared the ground for the scientific progress of all developing countries by breaking the monopoly of western states in advanced sciences and technologies. "West failed to challenge Islamic Republic through provoking unrest after the 2009 presidential elections because millions of people took to streets in support of the system on December 30, 2009 having understood the depth of West's complicated coupe against Islamic Republic." The human rights official further noted that, "Despite economic pressures of the western states, Iranian nation is vigilant toward West's plots for the upcoming 2013 presidential election." On December 30, 2009, millions of people took to the streets of Tehran and other Iranian cities and towns to show their anger over sacrilegious acts committed on Ashura day (December 27, 2009) in the follow-up to the post-election unrest./end
