National dialogue, the only solution to Syrian crisis: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN,March 4(MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad emphasized that dialogue and national reconciliation are the only ways out of the Syrian crisis. During a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem in Tehran on Saturday, Ahmadinejad called for an end to the violence and foreign interference in the crisis-hit country. Those who are resorting to arms and massacre and at the same time speak about democracy must be disarmed, Ahmadinejad noted. He also expressed hope that peace and security would return to Syria sooner than later and the Syrian people begin reconstructing their country and restore their normal lives. Muallem, for his part, elaborated on the latest developments in Syria and noted that his country is facing a global conspiracy, which is orchestrated by the United States and that Israel is taking advantage of this plot. Syrian FM meets Jalili Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili also held a meeting with the Syrian foreign minister late on Saturday and said that the resistance front is much stronger than before. Syria along with Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement and Palestinians form the resistance front against Israel. Jalili reiterated Tehran’s support for a political solution to the conflict in Syria and denounced the West and a number of regional countries for their support of terrorism in Syria. Jalili said most countries are backing a political solution to the crisis in Syria. He added a handful of countries, which are supporting terrorists, cannot represent the international community. Muallem praised Iran for its constructive stance toward his country, adding that Syria will never forget the support of the Iranian nation and government at hard times.
