National symbols of Kazakhstan

Almaty, 28 October 2008, (Khabar) - Over 1500 national flags were made ahead of Republic Day by the "Almaty-goroform-leniye" company. The enterprise is engaged in making hand-made national costumes and national emblems.

The
company's establishment dates back to 1936 with the enterprise becoming
famous thanks to outstanding craftsmen such as Shardenov, Kasteyev, Kalmykov
and Shayakhmetov. The plant was in operation during the Second World War and
perestroika when many other plants producing similar products were closed
down. At their factory, flags are imprinted on silk, polytex and gabardine.
At first, a copy of the flag is printed on special paper and then it is sent
to a press where the picture is imprinted on cloth at a temperature of over
200 degrees Celsius. This is an emblem foundry producing 25 plastic symbols.
Vladimir Shevchenko was the first who started making national emblems.

Vladimir Shevchenko, national emblem producer:
- We make all the national symbols by hand. The emblem that we make is
charged with positive energy and people buy it for the regions.

The standards of the national emblem have been changed since April this
year.

Vladimir Shevchenko, national emblem producer:
- This is a new shanyrak. It is different than the previous one. We've made
it bigger. The writing of the word Kazakhstan has been changed as well with
the font renewed.

The plant has over 20 workshops. The national emblems produced here can be
seen installed on the building of Kazakhstan's embassies around the world
whilst its flags were flying at the Beijing Olympic Games.
