New Thai fighter to take part in Singapore Airshow 2018

BANGKOK, Feb 5 (TNA) -- The Royal Thai Airforce has sent its new Saab Gripen fighter to participate in the 2018 Singapore Airshow between February 6-11. The Royal Thai Airforce Chief ACM (Air Chief Marshal) Johm Rungswang has accepted the invitation to attend the 2018 Singapore Airshow which will be held at the Changi International Exhibition Centre on February 6 onwards. The Singapore Airshow is the biggest in Asia and is organised every two years. It was first organised in 2008 and the current event is the 6th. More importantly it is the first time that the Royal Thai Airforce has been invited to participate. Selection for the air display must pass rigorous scrutiny by a special committee in charge of the event. Being selected is a great prestige for Thailand and two Gripens will be sent to Singapore. One as a static display while the other will perform the air display. The officer selected for the air display is Wing Commander Nattawut Duang-Soongnern deputy commander of the 7th Wing based in Surat Thani. Beside the honour of selection and maintaining good relations, this participation will also test the readiness of the Royal Thai Airforce's pilots as well as ground crew that must handle all the necessary logistics involved in such a prestigious internationally recognised event.
