New UN Syria envoy eager to hold talks with Iranian officials

TEHRAN,Aug.21(MNA) – Newly appointed UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi said that he will be happy to hold talks with Iranian officials. Brahimi made the remarks in an interview with the Aljazeera television network on Sunday. He also described Iran as an important country of the Middle East. The veteran Algerian diplomat has replaced former UN secretary general Kofi Annan as the international mediator on Syria.
