No need to evacuate Thais in France presently

BANGKOK, Nov 14 (TNA) -- There is no need to evacuate Thais in France at present while Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai reiterated early Saturday that no Thai casualties were reported so far in attacks launched by gunmen in Paris late Friday. In another development, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will not change his mind in attending the 2015 Paris Climate Conference to be held in France late November. In an exclusive interview with the Thai News Agency, Mr Don said his ministry was informed by the Thai embassy in Paris that no casualties among Thai citizens were reported in the ttacks. He said the Thai embassy had also asked Thais staying in Paris to inform whether they need any assistance while the French government is hunting for the gunmen and those responsible for the bombings. According to reports, the French official initially estimated that some 120 persons were killed in the attacks and many were wounded. Mr Don said the French government would continue hunting the culprits while Thailand and many countries would “monitor the situation closely” and offer support to the Paris government. A spokesman of the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry, meanwhile, said the Thai embassy in Paris would follow actions taken by the French government and at the same time requested Thai people in France not to venture near the scene of the incidents. The French government has not yet closed airports while people can travel normally, said the spokesman, adding that commercial flights from the kingdom to France have not been affected. (TNA)
