Pakistan Police Defuse Explosives Attached To TV Anchor’s Car

Islamabad, Nov 28, IRNA – Police in Islamabad has defused explosives attached to the car of a famous Pakistani TV anchor, Hamid Mir.
Explosive material, detonator and battery packed in a bag and affixed beneath the vehicle of the anchorperson was found when he returned home after a marketplace, police said.
Hamid Mir, hosts a talk show The Capital Talk, on Geo TV and he has been critical at the militants and the security agencies during his talks shows.
Police said that Mir and his driver left car there unattended at a market for around 10 to 15 minutes and then headed towards home. When his driver parked the vehicle outside home, another person pointed out some suspicious material hanging under the vehicle.
On finding some suspected material, bomb disposal squad of Islamabad police was called which found explosive and diffused it.
Minister for Interior Rehman Malik visited the house of the anchorperson and committed to provide him effective and elaborate security.
He announced to constitute `fact finding committee' including Magistrate, police officials and two journalists which will probe this incident.
The minister also announced a reward of 50 million rupees for the person who would provide any clue regarding this attempt of targeting Hamid Mir./end
