Parliament to discuss joining Maritime Labor Convention
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The issue of Mongolia’s joining the Maritime Labor Convention (Geneva, 2006) was discussed at the regular meeting of the cabinet October 26.
The draft bill of law on it was agreed to be discussed at parliament session.
If Mongolia--one of a few landlocked countries of the earth--joins the document, it will be able to take part in the international sea transportation activities, to get its share in sea resources, to take relevant measures for human resources matters, including employment conditions and salaries.
Mongolia has currently registered 350 ships under its name, allowing them in the sea transportation undre its flag. Between 2033-2012, a total of 2,156 ships from about thirty states carried international transportation activities under Mongolia’s name, collecting 2.8 billion MNT to the state budget from their registration.
A draft bill law on joining the international Convention on Salvage (London, 1989) was also approved at the meeting. It will be submitted to parliament for discussion.
