Plot against Syria could undermine regional security, Iraqi VP tells Jalili

TEHRAN,Aug.12(MNA) – Iraqi Vice President Khudayr al-Khuzaie said that the plot that has been hatched against Syria could undermine the security of the region if Muslim countries fail to take appropriate measures to help resolve the Syrian crisis. Khuzaie made the remarks during a meeting with the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, in Baghdad on Saturday, in which the two officials discussed the latest developments in the region. He said that the Syrian crisis has been caused by a predetermined plot to create sectarian and religious strife. He also said that the plot is not limited to Syria, adding that insecurity could spread to other parts of the region if Muslim intellectuals do not take action in a timely manner. Jalili also pointed to considerable successes achieved by Muslims over the past few decades and the enemies’ extensive efforts to prevent the potential of the synergy between Muslim countries from being realized and emphasized the need for increased vigilance in order to take advantage of new opportunities created by the Islamic Awakening occurring in the region.
