PM attends Mekong summit in Vietnam

BANGKOK, March 30 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha left for Vietnam to attend the 6th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit while refusing to comment on a move to seek a court ruling on a bill for the election of House representatives. Gen Prayut’s flight took off at Wing 6 for the summit of Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam set in Hanoi on March 30-31. Main topics of the summit include water management. In the summit, Thailand presents its activities related to sustainable development and expects better cooperation from participating countries. Before his flight, Gen Prayut refused to comment on a request from Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, president of the National Legislative Assembly, for the government to return the bill on the election of House representatives so that the NLA can seek the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the constitutionality of the bill. The prime minister also declined to comment on former prime ministers Thaksin Shinawatra and Yingluck Shinawatra’s participation in an event to launch a new book of former Japanese home affairs minister Ishii Hajime in Japan.
