PM expresses his condolences on terror attacks in Indonesia
BANGKOK, Jan 15 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed condolences on behalf of the Thai government and Thai people to the Indonesian government in relation to bombings and gun battles in Jakarta on Jan 14.
In his letter, Gen Prayut also said that the Thai government stood ready to support Indonesia in any possible way in the difficult time.
Meanwhile, Sek Wannamethee, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said initial reports revealed that no Thai people were injured in Jakarta.
The ministry asked government officials and an association of Thai people in Indonesia to take good care of Thai citizens there, he said. The spokesman also advised Thai visitors to Jakarta to report their arrival to the Thai embassy there.
Deputy national police chief Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul said authorities were implementing strict security measures to protect government offices, embassies and tourist destinations.
The measure has been in effect since the bombing at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Bangkok, he added.
People could live their normal life as intelligence reports found no suspicious movements, Pol Gen Srivara said. (TNA)
