PM leads Songkran ceremonies at Government House
BANGKOK, April 10 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha led cabinet ministers to conduct religious and traditional ceremonies to mark Songkran, the Thai New Year.
The activities were held before the meetings of the National Council for Peace and Order and the cabinet on Tuesday.
Gen Prayut and his wife Naraporn led cabinet ministers, armed forces chiefs and Government House officials to chant prayers and give alms to 61 Buddhist monks.
The prime minister also bathed a Buddha image and led others to traditionally pour water on his hands to extend best Songkran wishes and accept his best wishes in return. Most participants wore traditional Thai clothes.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon was absent as he took a leave.
On the occasion, Gen Prayut said his government had worked hard to serve the public and would further improve its efficiency. He also encouraged people to also take action for their own good future.
Besides, Gen Prayut had his new and 6th song played at Government House during the activities. It was entitled “Su Puea Pandin” or “fight for the country” communicating his message that despite criticisms he is determined to work hard for the national interest. (TNA)
