PM promises to restore peace in Thai deep South
BANGKOK, May 10 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Thursday welcomed 87 young people from the country's far South who participate in a leadership development project, during which she promised to restore public safety, improve locals’ quality of life and create jobs in the troubled southernmost region.
Yingluck, who visited the Thai deep South last week, said that her government serves people of all religions and promotes national unity, encouraging southerners to cooperate with the government to achieve the goals.
The Thai premier acknowledged that people nationwide give their morale support to those in the far South, urging them to share their real problems with government authorities so that the government will work out right solutions for them.
Meanwhile, Koleeyoh Halee, who led the 87 deep South youths to meet the prime minister, asked the prime minister to closely supervise operations of local authorities in the insurgency-plagued far South, saying she was happy that the prime minister promised to do her best to solve problems in the southern border region.
