PM says visit to SKorea would help boost investor confidence

BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Saturday that her recent visit to South Korea would help boost foreign investor confidence in Thailand’s economy. Speaking during her weekly radio address, Yingluck said besides attending the Nuclear Security Summit with foreign government leaders in Seoul although Thailand is not a member, her presence would help the kingdom in gaining knowledge on nuclear radiation as well as boosting foreign businessmen confidence in investing in Thailand. Yingluck said she had also held talks on trade and investment with government leaders and also inspected water management conducted by South Korea as its management is similar to Thailand by taking the water flows and the earth gravity into consideration and build water retaining areas to prevent flooding problem. What South Korea has done is building dams or water retaining areas and then convert them into tourism destinations, she said. Water reserved in these sources is also used in agricultural sector which is a positive model. Several provinces in Thailand were hit by severe flood late last year in which more than 800 persons were drowned. Yingluck paid a four-day official visit, started from March 24, and attended the Summit. (TNA)
