PM visits Udon Thani
UDON THANI, March 18 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited the northeastern province of Udon Thani to follow up projects to reduce poverty, help landless people and poor farmers, and build water sources.
His delegation arrived in Mak Khaeng sub-district of Udon Thani's provincial seat, before attending the meeting of the Joint Government-Private Sector Committee for Upper Northeastern provincial cluster I.
The prime minister was scheduled to attend the meeting and the provincial cluster consists of Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lam Phu, and Bung Kan provinces.
Assistant government spokesman Athisit Chainuwat said the delegation of the prime minister then went to Phen district to inspect the implementation of water management and job creation projects. There the prime minister presented community land use permits and visited an exhibition on community management and sustainable development which featured community land and water management, job creation, income generation and the promotion of local products.
Then the prime minister inspected the construction of the Nong Muck sluice gate and an irrigation canal funded by a village fund. About 100 local farmers with about 1,000 rai of farmland will benefit from the project.
In the trip, the prime minister listened to local residents’ problems and development ideas. He also handed land title deeds to 139 local people covered by a recent land survey project.
Udon Thani is strategically located at the central of the upper Northeast, and is a gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion. The prime minister was set to return to Bangkok at 5.50pm. (TNA)
