PM vows to listen and respond to May Day demands

BANGKOK, May 2 (TNA) -- Prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha vows to listen and respond to May Day demands while urging the workforce to improve their skills. Chairing the National Labor Day’s event at Bangkok city hall on Tuesday, General Prayut met with members of labor rights organizations and unions. The confederation of Thai Laborers raised a 10-point demand for reform of social welfare system to improve welfare and benefits. Gen Prayut conceded that Thai workers’ income was relatively low and his government was determined to improve their salary. As the government has implemented Thailand 4.0 policy, he urged the laborers to adapt and learn about digital technology in order to develop their skills. “I am very happy to meet you who have been contributing to the national development,” Prayut told the crowd. Across Thailand, activities from religious ceremonies to parades were organized to observe National Labor Day. (TNA)
