PM will attend ASEAN Summit in the Philippines on Nov 13-14

BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines on Nov 13-14 and measures to protect migrant workers' rights will be proposed there for regional economic growth. Assistant government spokesman Athisit Chaiyanuwat said Gen Prayut would be at the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Manila and participants were expected to approve 25 documents. They comprise a document that ASEAN leaders will sign, 23 documents that they will approve and a document that ASEAN foreign ministers will sign. Col Athisit said ASEAN leaders would sign a written consensus on support and protection for migrant workers' rights in Southeast Asia as migrant workers were considered as playing important roles in supporting the economies of the countries that imported and exported labor. The document included a joint resolution to promote cooperation on sciences, technologies and innovations in the region. (TNA)
