Political consultations commission between UAE, Philippines launched in Manila

MANILA, 11th December, 2017 (WAM) -- Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Minister of Foreign and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, has met with Perfecto Yasay, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, in Manila. They discussed mutual co-operation and the development of bilateral relations for mutual interest, in addition to discussing various important issues. Al Jarman praised the UAE-Philippines relations, stressing on the UAE’s keenness to promote and develop these relations. The first political consultation commission between the UAE and Philippines was launched in Manila, and the Philippines delegation was presided by Enrique Manalo, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, while the UAE delegation was presided by Al Jarman. Hamad Saeed Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador in the Philippines, and Ali Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of East Asia and Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Manalo praised the mutual co-operation and affirmed that there is a new period of bilateral relations ahead that should witness substantial development on all fronts, while stressing on the importance of promoting co-operation in the private sector. He highlighted UAE’s leading role in international humanitarian issues and spoke of its significant achievements, citing the assistance it provided to the Philippines after the Tsunami, and expressed his country’s desire to enlarge the scope of mutual co-operation to include all areas of development. Both sides presented their efforts on the local, regional and international levels to fight terrorism, extremism and find solutions to the crises in the region.
